Follow up on your application by calling or visiting Chilis and asking the manager if they have had a chance to look over your application yet. There are a few responses the manager may give you. He may say he hasn’t had a chance to look it over yet and will get back to you, or he may say yes and invite you in for an interview.

Step #5  The Interview

Congratulations the manager has reviewed your Chilis application and scheduled an interview for you. The interview will likely be scheduled for a day or two after the manager spoke with you. This gives you just the right amount of time to prepare for the interview. One great way to prepare is to conduct a mach interview with a friend of family member. Sit down with him or her and have them go over typical interview questions. You can find the most popular job interview questions through a Google search. Also be sure to look up proper answers to the most popular interview questions. One example of an interview question you might be asked is “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”. The best response to this question is to say “I can be a perfectionist sometimes”. This answer is perfect because being a perfectionist can be a negative and positive quality however to an employer its all positive. When you show up to the interview be well dressed, well groomed, and on point.

Before turning in the Chilis application you should know the qualifications for employment. Most of the job requirement for entry level positions at the restaurant are basic. Higher up positions such as managerial or corporate jobs will obviously have much more qualifications.

Minimum Age

In looking over the Chilis application you will notice it asks for your age. Chilis age requirements coincide with your states local child labor law age limits. In some states this age can be as low as 14. Typically applicants who are 14-15 must first obtain a work permit through their school’s guidance counselor before apply for a job. It is also notable that young of an age may be limited to a certain number of work hours per week. Visit your guidance counselor or refer to your state’s website to see if you are old enough to apply for employment.

Experience

You can get hired for entry level positions such as waiter, server, dishwasher, bus boy without any experience. With that being said it will greatly improve your odds of being hired for these positions if you have some experience in the relative field. As far as supervisor and managerial positions go, it is not advisable to apply for them without previous experience or education.
Other Qualifications

Working at Chilis in positions such as waiter, waitress, bus boy, etc. May require you to be very active. You will constantly be moving around the restaurant going performing tasks such as serving food, clearing tables, cleaning, etc. Being physically in shape will help you perform these tasks. Things to ask yourself before turning in the Chilis application is: Can you stand on your feet for extended periods of time? Can you lift heavy stacks of plates? etc.

Drug Free Work Place

Chilis is a drug free work place. This means drugs are not permitted to be in your system while employed at Chilis. After you turn in the Chilis application and go through the interview, you may be asked to perform a drug screening. Failing the drug screening will most definitely result in your application for employment being denied.

Employees of Chilis are encouraged to have strong people skills. In working at the restaurant you will have a lot of interaction with customers. Chilis would like to make a good impression on their customers by having you exude a friendly and personable demeanor.

Just like the restaurant’s experience requirements, there are not education qualifications for entry level positions. It is very feasible to be hired on as a server or waiter with a High School education or less. Corporate positions on the other hand will almost always require a college degree.
